Sissiboo Landing
Sissiboo Landing is a Cultural Interpretive Center based on a wealth of information about the five cultures that founded Weymouth and continued to work and live in harmony. This Center is a great addition to the historic downtown with a beautiful waterfront that is frequented by eagles, osprey, wading birds and aquatic wildlife. The five cultures represented include the Mik'Maq First Nations, United Empire Loyalist, Black Loyalist, Acadians and the New France settlers. The center brings the stories of the five cultures and their cooperation alive with displays and interactive exhibits. One of those exhibits is a recreation of Weymouth in the 1890's complete with a working train. Also exhibited are Weymouth's main industries of that same time period, which were shipbuilding and logging.
Sissiboo Landing also includes:A Tourist Information Center – There is information about the accommodations, outdoor activities, wineries, dining, whale watching and much more. We invite everyone to stop in for their traveling information.
A C@P site – The local community as well as our visitors can surf the Internet or get their e-mail free of charge. We are proud to have RUSH Communications provide this service for us.
